MON 13th June double bill: AUBREY LOGAN SHOWCASE & PADDY MILNER’S LONDONOLA

8:00PM AUBREY LOGAN has been singing and playing the trombone since the age of 12. A recent graduate of Boston’s renowned Berklee College of Music, she  will be showcasing some of the songs from her upcoming album supported by a 5-piece band of hand picked, UK-based, ex-Berklee alumni.

9:45PM PADDY MILNER’S LONDONOLA Paddy is recognised as one of the leading blues singer/pianists of his generation. With his classic blues growl of a voice and an unusually fluent and impressive piano technique his trio “Londonola”, featuring Spencer Brown on bass and Pat Levett on drums, combines the best of British musical innovation with a New Orleans Blues spirit and energy.


TUES 14th June double bill: DAN REINSTEIN; DILL KATZ

8:00PM DAN REINSTEIN specialises in fluent, classic hard-bop, muscular sax playing. Also featured tonight will be Shanti Jayasinha on trumpet and Tim Lapthorn on piano.

9:45PM DILL KATZ is appearing later with his regular quartet, playing the more contemporary side of the spectrum, featuring the excellent guitar playing of Leon Stenning.


WED 15th June CAROLINE LOFTUS

8:30PM Caroline will lead a stellar modern jazz quartet including Jonathan Gee-piano, Ben Hazleton-bass and Winston Clifford-drums. A sophisticated and exciting gig from one of the masters of jazz vocals.


THURS 16th June CD LAUNCH: BENET MCLEAN WITH SPECIAL GUEST JULIAN JOSEPH

8:30PM Violinist Benet McLean will be playing a mix of “choice standards” along with a selection of his own excellent compositions along with Duncan Eagles – sax, Dan Casimir – bass, Clark Tracey – drums and Special Guest internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Julian Joseph.


FRI 17th June DAVE LEWIS “1UP” FEATURING LIZZIE DEANE

9:30PM Dave Lewis’s own band is fronted by vocalist Lizzie Deane. With a strong emphasis on groove, improvisation and spontaneous melodic interplay, 1UP is one of the tightest, funkiest bands on the scene.

9:30PM Patrick is a powerful, post-Coltrane tenor player and will be joined by three of the finest rhythm players in Europe, Mark Hodgson on bass, Mark Mondesir on drums… and watch out for Pat’s Special Guest this evening on piano. Highly recommended.

1:30PM Rebecca is a captivating singer who performs a wonderful mix of classic standards and terrific, swinging originals with her brilliant trio, featuring Hugh Turner on guitar, Paul Jeffries on bass and Stuart Henderson on trumpet.

8:30PM One of the most creative and striking performers working on the UK scene, Gwyneth’s remarkable voice is something quite special, combined with intricate piano of Ned Cartwright, the creative bass of Dave Mannington and the sublime guitar playing of Al Cherry.


MON 20th June TRIO MANOUCHE WITH SPECIAL GUEST MATT HOLBORN

8:30PM Founded by guitarist Simon Harris, Trio Manouche is a world-class gypsy jazz ensemble that perform a mixture of traditional classic “swing” tunes and upbeat “quirky” originals. The rest of the trio is made up of two of the finest exponents of Gypsy swing jazz in the UK, Ducato Pietrowski on acoustic guitar and Mark Lewandowski on double bass. Their special guest this evening will be the excellent swing violinist Matt Holborn.


TUES 21st June GRAHAM HARVEY

8:30PM One of the most respected pianists on the scene today, Graham will be playing with two quite brilliant UK jazz musicians: Dave Chamberlain on bass and Sebastiaan De Krom on drums, performing a powerful mix of jazz standards and the occasional swinging original.


WED 22nd June MUSICIANS XCHANGE PROGRAMME: ARON TALAS

8:30PM This multi-award winning young Hungarian pianist is already making a real name for himself. He will be performing a mix of jazz standards and some of his excellent modern jazz originals in a trio setting accompanied by a stellar UK rhythm section of Arnie Somogyi (Stan Tracey, Steve Grossman) bass and Martin France (Loose Tubes, Kenny Wheeler) on drums.


THURS 23rd June SHEZ RAJA FEATURING MONIKA LIDKE & SPECIAL GUEST ARUN GHOSH

8:30PM Shez Raja is a seriously talented electric bassist whose work in a fascinating mix of Indo-jazz, funk and groove settings has propelled him to the forefront of the UK jazz scene. He leads a formidable line-up featuring Polish folk-jazz singer Monika LidkeVasilis Xenopoulos on saxophone, Alex Stanford on keyboard and Chris Nickolls on drums. Adding even more intensity and spark to this 606 gig will be Shez’s Special Guest, the internationally-renowned clarinettist Arun Ghosh.


FRI 24th June SAMARA FEATURING LILIANA CHACHIAN

9:30PM “SAMARA” is a six-piece jazz/Latin group led by club maestro Steve Rubie on sax and flute, with pianist Neil Angilley, Dill Katz, the bass player is visiting professor at the Guildhall, drummer Raphael Delphino, percussionist, Dawson Miller, and singer Liliana Chachian, considered to be one of the finest Brazilian vocalists currently working in Europe, with an unerring gift for melody and phrasing.


SAT 25th June JULIAN NICHOLAS FEATURING IMOGEN RYALL

9:30PM One of the UK’s most distinctive saxophonists, Julian Nicholas has been a leading player on the international jazz scene since first coming to prominence in the mid 1980’s.  Julian and Imogen Ryall have been playing together for some time now and as Julian says they have “worked to combine sax and vocals in a variety of ways, including unison scats and lyricised material of mine, with a strong vein of American Songbook arrangements running through the set.”


SUNDAY 26TH June SUNDAY LUNCHTIME SPECIAL: JO HARROP

1:30PM Jo Harrop sings a beautiful, straight-ahead set of classic jazz standards, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, together with beautifully melodic Harry Sankey on guitar, Henry Gilbert on bass and Joel Prime on drums.

LILY DIOR  (evening gig)

9:30PM  Lily is one of Australia’s foremost vocalists, performing at major festivals and venues in Australia and around the World. Her set will encompass classic “Groove” orientated material and some of her own originals, all performed with Lily’s trademark powerful and charismatic vocals. Also featured tonight will be the brilliant piano playing of Neil Angilley along with Al Cherry, guitar; Neville Malcolm, bass and Rod Youngs, drums.


MON 27th June TOMMY BLAIZE BAND 

8:30PM Liverpudlian Tommy Blaize is a fantastic, charismatic singer/keyboardist who is widely admired and respected throughout the music business. His amazing band includes Dave Arch-piano, Trevor Barry-bass, Andy Caine-guitar/vocals, Paul Dunne-guitar and Ian Thomas-drums, who will be playing a selection of classic Groove and R&B standards with the odd jazz tune thrown in.


TUES 28th June THE RIDOUTS: MARK, ALEX & TOM

8:30PM The band tonight will feature two generations of great jazz musicians, father Mark Ridout on guitar along with his Award-winning children, son Tom on sax and recorder and daughter Alex on trumpet. Alex Ridout recently shot to fame as the 17-year old winner of this year’s BBC “Young Jazz Musician of the Year” Awards. Accompanied by a rhythm section featuring Flo Moore on bass and Tristan Maillot on drums.


WED 29th June SIMON MULLIGAN

8:30PM Pianist Simon Mulligan has produced 15 highly regarded CD’s and included live work with numerous orchestras including the BBC Symphony. His jazz bona fides are equally as strong as his composing credentials. The jazz trio he leads tonight includes some of the finest jazz players in the UK, Andy Hamill-bass and Justin Woodward-drums.


THURS 30th June  606 CLUB SPECIAL: THE MO PLEASURE BAND

8:30PM One of the greatest keyboard players and multi-instrumentalists of his generation, Morris “Mo” Pleasure has been at the forefront of American popular music for the last 30 years. He will be playing as a selection of originals as well as his favourite classic funk, soul & groove songs and will feature a hand picked band of some of the finest musicians in the UK – plus Surprise Guest vocalist!
