A special show entitled “Following the Herd” which tells the life story and presents the music of the famous big band leader, Woody Herman, featuring Cliff Longhurst’s JazzKnights Orchestra and guest vocalists.
This is a show for all big-time jazz enthusiasts as well as for people who love to sit back and just listen. Performing material from throughout Woody’s long career which started in the 1930’s right up to his final performances in the 1980s, the music from six decades of popular Jazz is just too good to ever be forgotten. Enjoy the excitement and drive of classic live performances that made Woody Herman a legend.
Enjoy Woody Herman’s most popular hits of the 1940’s to the 1980’s from the 5 million seller Woodchopper’s Ball through Northwest Passage,Four Brothers,Caldonia, Early Autumn,Apple Honey, Giant Steps,Lemondrop,Fanfare for the Common Man, Laura, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Blues in the Night and featuring popular songs by some of the artistes that Woody’s band backed in concert – Frank Sinatra,Natalie Cole,Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney,Shirley Bassey and Billy Eckstine, and also including songs from the album of Woody’s tribute to Al Jolson.
The Cliff Longhurst’s 20 piece orchestra together with light-hearted, humerous but informative narration by Keith Simmons celebrating 50 years of Woody’s Thundering Herds. A MUST for all serious big band lovers..
Snacks and hot food will be on sale from our servery at reasonable prices where they will offer a pub style menu, for example, Steak and Ale Pie, Jumbo Sausage and Chips, Chicken Curry, Vegetarian Lasagne etc. etc. Drinks from our bar are at pub prices too so you can enjoy a full night out all under one roof.

Seating at the venue is allocated on specific tables at the time of booking but individual seats at those tables are on a “first come first served” basis on the night.
