Formed out of the Hoxton jazz workshop scene, Parsimonious Monk are a septet who love jazz in all its guises from the angular bop of Thelonious Monk through the more rhythm and blues-orientated Blue Note style of the 60s to the funk grooves of the 70s and beyond.
The variety of of their repertoire means they’re not only for the jazz purists but for anyone who likes a thumping groove and a roaring horn section. Their live sound has been honed over multiple performances in diverse venues from pubs to canal barges and even via our participation in the ‘Cable Writes’ all-nighter poetry jams. They might be parsimonious by name, but certainly not when it comes to the entertainment.
