South London Jazz Orchestra

The South London Jazz Orchestra (SLJO) is a massive group of fun-loving musicians based in Camberwell, and is probably Britain’s biggest regularly-performing Big Band. SLJO plays all over London at pubs, jazz clubs, bandstands and local events, as well as travelling further afield – recent tours include Bath, Brighton, Belgium, and sold-out performances at the Edinburgh Fringe.

With over 120 members, SLJO can perform in a variety of sizes depending on the available space, either involving as many players as possible, or “shrinking” to a more traditional 17-piece. Expect swing, jazz and Latin classics, plus more modern and surprising choices.

SLJO play upwards of thirty gigs each year, and have performed at a wide range of events including the Dulwich and Sydenham Arts Festivals, the Ealing Jazz Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London’s prestigious 100 Club, the Montreux and Stockholm Jazz Festivals, and at numerous bandstands across the capital. SLJO also performs at private events and functions such as weddings, award ceremonies, community events, private parties and at local pubs.
